​This clip is a real good example of what is like playing a musical from a remote location, and this case, I am in the basement of a very old building.  With today's technology, it is very logistically possible.   I had a couple of TV monitors around me to see the conductor, and also had an audio monitor to hear the stage and the actors.  That's Mary Martello on the vocal on this iconic number from the musical, Gypsy. I could literally come in, play the show, and leave, without seeing any of the other orchestra or cast members.
