So many different styles to cover, this book throws it all right at you.  Up-tempo swing, 60's style rock, samba, power ballads, and funk.  There are also tunes with some "industrial" type sound effects.  I used a ribbon crasher and LP small ice bell for those sounds in the song, "Scrap".  Since there was such a wide variety of styles to play, I chose to use the Yamaha Recording Custom drums for the production.  It gave me the depth in sound I needed in the tom sounds that worked really well for the songs, "Michael Jordan's Ball' and 'The Goods".  I also decided to go with a deeper snare drum that wouldn't be too aggressive, yet give me a solid, warm sound.
