1940's Deagan "Drummer's Special" 3 Octave Xylophone
Another lucky find, this wonderful treasure of an instrument from the 1940’s works perfectly for the playing I do. It is a 3-octave rosewood model with narrow bars. The narrow bars allow this instrument to fit into theater pits very well, and the legs are height adjustable so that it can be played standing up, or sitting down next to a drum kit. I had the bars re-tuned to A-442 by Century Mallet Instruments, and I have an original document of a re-tuning done back in 1949. I couldn’t have found a more applicable and practical instrument for all of my playing situations. The perfect pit xylophone!
