1990's Yamaha "Peter Erskine" model, maple, 4" x 14"

 

   This beautiful instrument really plays well.  The snares extend beyond the bearing edges of the drum to provide maximum sensitivity and control, and have snare strainer knobs on opposite sides.  This particular maple ply shell seems warmer and fuller than most pic’s I have played on.  I think that Peter wanted to create a drum that was bright and contemporary sounding, and at the same time is sensitive with a warm follow through.  This drum has all these characteristics and more.
