1987 Yamaha SD-075 7 ply birch, 5" x 14"

 

 This drum was manufactured in 1987, and I found it new in the box in 2002.  It was only ever offered in this hand rubbed black walnut finish.  It plays very nicely and is extremely versatile.  This instrument is the perfect happy medium.  Tuned high, it produces a lot of resonance and projection, and when tuned lower, the warmth and body take over.  Truly a great find and a great instrument, I can’t think of a situation where this drum would not be suitable!
